Jim Lowther is a UEFA B level 3 coach and he also holds the FA Youth Coaches Award for working with Academy players. He is a BASES accredited sport psychologist (scientific support) and holds the Level 5 FA Diploma(Psychology for Football) having delivered numerous Psychology For Football modules for the FA since 2001.
Jim has over 30 years of experience in football development, coaching and sports science. He managed Wimbledon FC’s multiple award-winning Football and Community Programme while the club were in the FA Premier league.
As an Academy football coach he worked with Brentford FC(Cente of Excellence), Charlton FC Academy (U.12s, U.13s) and Wimbledon FC(U.9s,U.10’s), and spent four years as player development advisor for Crystal Palace FC Academy. He has also managed a player development centre for Crystal Palace FC. Jim has over 23 years experience as a university lecturer teaching at UG and MSc level (coaching, sport psychology, sports development and match analysis) at Kingston University and Ulster University.
He is a former Coerver Coach who obtained Coerver Coaching Youth Diploma 1 and 2 awards. Jim has also developed coaching content for Coerver coach education modules and weekly Performance Academies for Coerver Co. Down and Coerver Leinster.
This broad range of experiences from coach education, professional football clubs, and the higher education sector helps shape the content and services that Soccer Steps® deliver. He will deliver the following:
- workshops for coaches-technical and tactical aspects of play, psychology for football, coaching philosophy
- workshops for parents- being a football parent (how to support your child)
- workshops for clubs-supporting clubs with developing a coaching syllabus for various age groups and the writing of a Club Development Plan to aid strategic planning
